Create a Fabric Welcome Sign Without the Studio Cost

Fabric welcome signs have become a common feature at modern weddings in Australia. Soft linen, natural movement, and large-scale typography often creates a beautiful understated entrance moment. But, there’s usually a catch — the custom design and production cost can quickly reach $200 or more.

That’s why we created our fabric sign templates as a solution to remove that designer overhead. Instead of commissioning a custom layout, you can start with a professionally designed template by us, edit the wording yourself, and prepare a print-ready file in minutes. We’ve taken care of the foundation and given you the reins to make it yours. It’s a practical way to achieve the linen-sign look without paying for custom studio time.

How Our Templates Work

Using our templates is pretty straightforward:

  1. Choose a template design from our collection.
  2. Edit your names, date, and wording.
  3. Adjust the text size to suit your display area.
  4. Download the print-ready PDF file.
  5. Send it directly to a fabric printer (see below for our printing partner).

The best part is you don’t need advanced design skills or any fancy software. Our designs are ready to use and easily editable in your desktop browser.

Where to Print Your Fabric Welcome Sign

Once your PDF file is ready, you’ll need a fabric printing service that can produce large-format signage on quality textiles. Our templates are designed for 70 x 200 cm signs, which is a common size for weddings and events.

Note: Due to software size limitations, our editable templates are set at half scale. When sending your file to print, you’ll need to ask your printer to scale the final PDF to 200% to achieve the full 70 x 200 cm size.

For printing, we recommend using APPLiK Digital Fabric Printing in Queensland to print your signs. They are a small, specialist fabric printer familiar with our template files and the formatting requirements for wedding signage. Working with a printer who understands both scale and fabric behaviour reduces the risk of sizing errors or unexpected quality issues.

Some of the reasons we love working with them include:

  • Customisable sizing to suit your frame or hanging setup
  • Reasonable pricing for the quality of material
  • Local Australian production
  • Direct communication and personal service from the owner, Rameez
  • A range of fabric and finishing options available:
    • 100% Natural white or oatmeal linen (lovely for outdoor weddings)
    • Polished cotton
    • Linen-look polyester
    • Crepe de chine (perfect for an ethereal look)
    • Satin
    • Hemming and cutting
    • Eyelets for hanging

Because they regularly print large textile signage, you can feel confident the proportions and margins will translate accurately from screen to fabric.

Avoiding Common Fabric Sign Mistakes

A few practical considerations can make a significant difference:

  • Check your final dimensions carefully. Measure your frame, hanging rod, or backdrop area before exporting your file.
  • Avoid using low-resolution images or graphic elements. If an image file is too small or compressed, it may print pixelated at large scale. For fabric signage, it’s usually best to keep the design typography-focused with minimal imagery to ensure a clean result.
  • Keep text margins generous. Fabric moves slightly once hung; adequate spacing prevents crowded edges.
  • Consider hem or finishing options. Some printers offer stitched edges or pole pockets for easier hanging.
  • Order in advance. Allow time for printing, shipping, and steaming before your wedding or event.

Planning these details early keeps the process simple and prevents last-minute reprints.
